    The aim of this course is to develop understanding of the theories of financial intermediation and provide insights into the best practices of risk management processes and techniques used by banks and other financial intermediaries. Recent developments in regulatory framework and crisis prevention and management techniques will also be discussed in the context of the recent global financial crisis.

    The course provides an advanced introduction to research methods in financial economics and finance. It covers a number of fundamental research techniques in finance, integrated with appropriate financial theory and evidence. The course gives students an overview of selective approaches to research in finance, and is designed to provide a solid foundation for doing their own research and to enable students to become educated consumers of academic research.
